The Expatriats by Janice Y.K. Lee

Club Rating: 4.6

The themes were lack of friendship, kids/no kids, all where lost and all of their lives were interconnected. The author captured the expat community extremely well. We all felt that Margaret was a good mother. Mercy had poor judgment but was not to blame. We didn't have as much compassion for Hillary as she was more detached and not very deep. We had conflicting feelings on her taking the child without adopting him.

It was meant to be about these 3 women but we also found it interesting that we didn't think about the men. We all enjoyed this book.
