This is Where I Leave You by Jonathon Tropper

Club Rating: 3.3

The writer was able to give the characters humor in a time of sorrow, and that made the book readable. Several of us were confused about the recurring dreams Judd had about the prosthesis. We felt he was obviously missing something in his life, but we weren't sure if he had always had the dreams or if they just started after the "Jen" incident. We all really enjoyed that there was a male protagonist, as most of these stories of people falling apart are told by female characters. We felt it was a coming of age story, despite the fact that Judd is clearly an adult. We were a bit confused about the title, as it could have several meanings, but it wasn't clear in the story which one it meant. Maybe this was on purpose. We discussed that there is an upcoming movie and the actors chosen seem appropriate. While we don't expect the ends of books to be tied up in a bow, but it felt like Judd taking Phillip's porche didn't fit his character.
